For Club Championships the Club uses "age as of 31st December" which means the age your swimmer will be at the end of that year not the age they are on the day of the event. For other events, it is usually "age on day".
Time Trials are held during the year to help to decide movement between the squads and are organised by each squad coach. The time trials are sometimes run as licenced time trials (Level 4) whereby it would be run with officials, judges and timekeepers under ASA rules and the results are sent up to the ASA rankings.
Once a year, in November/December EDSC runs its Club Champs (sprint champs in March). They are licenced Level 4 and times are officially recorded and sent to the ASA rankings. These times can be used to enter Opens and the Surrey Championships.
Entry details for the Championships are advertised on the website. The entry fees are included within the swimmer's annual fees. There is a closing date for entries and it is important that you enter before that date. The Galas are held over several days using existing pool times for various squads, usually over two weekends at the Rainbow Centre.
Club Champs are open to all squads including Masters (and some Seahorse swimmers may be invited to participate in selected events). All swimmers are expected to enter every event they are eligible for unless their coach has advised them not to. It's definitely a "have a go" competition but there will be disqualifications so you should prepare the younger ones for this.
We award medals and ribbons based on the results from each age group. Trophies are also awarded as well as some special awards all of which are presented at our Annual Presentation evening.
