Squad Structure

How the Squad System works...

We only take squad members from our seahorse swim school. Swim teachers and squad coaches will ask swimmers who show potential for competitive swimming to join the squad.

Places in the squads are not guaranteed, they are a privilege and thus breaches of the code(s) of conduct will result in swimmers loosing their place in the squad.

Swimmers squad positions are for the lifetime of that swimmer as long as they; want to swim competitively, have a positive attitude to training and competitions, and respect their squad mates, coaches and officials. If swimmers are not adhering to these principals they will lose their place in the squad. This will be the decision of the coaching team.

EDSC Club Structure Printed Version

Our Club Structure has been constantly developing since 2004. We are proud of a structure which continues to deliver results at every level.

Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) is at the core of our Club, with a structure built to support every swimmer. Reviewed for September 2017, our aim was to put in place a system that nurtures swimmers from 8 years and up to give them the structure and coaching needed to fulfil their potential.

The image above shows the progression from our Seahorses section to High Performance (our "top" squad)

EDSC also has a thriving Masters Section (Minimum Age 17, NO Maximum Age).
